Imam of Alhuda

IMAM NEEDED… Alhuda Foundation, in Fishers, Indiana, is looking for an Imam to lead the community.

About the Community:Fishers is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States.  As part of the top-rated Hamilton Southeastern School District in the north-east suburbs of Indianapolis, it was named the best city to move your family to in the U.S. by Forbes magazine two years in a row (2008 and 2009). It has a balance of family friendly recreation and mid-west values with a professional, highly-educated population that makes it an ideal place for raising a family. With a growing Muslim community of over 12,000 Muslims, it also presents an ideal opportunity for an aspiring community leader to make a significant impact on the Muslim community and the greater society.

Alhuda is also home to Eman Schools, one of the few mid-west private Islamic schools that educate children through their 8th grade academic year. Eman Schools have seen growth from 13 students to 115+ students in five short years with a planned third expansion to include much needed additional classrooms, a gymnasium, and state of the art computer, media, and science labs. The school attracts Muslim students from Fishers, Indianapolis, Carmel and surrounding cities as far as 70 miles away!

Required Qualifications: The Imam should have the following qualifications:

1.    Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Islamic Studies/Shariah from an internationally recognized institute.

2.    Adequate knowledge of Fiqh to teach and counsel the community on matters of Fiqh. This should include general awareness of the differences of opinions and practices among different schools of Fiqh.

3.    Memorized a significant portion of the Qur’an. Entire Quran memorized is a plus.

4.    Masters tajwid rules to ensure correct recitation of the Qur’an.

5.    Adequate knowledge of the Seerah of the Prophet, and acquainted with hadith and its collection and usage.

6.    Good command over the Arabic Language and effective English communication skills.

7.    Trained in interfaith relations and is able to introduce Islam to people of other faiths.

8.    Trained and has experience in delivering the Jum’ah Khutbah.

9.    Experience in teaching and counseling women and families

10. Ability to relate to Muslim youth, and provide them guidance and motivation.

11. Experience in providing funeral Services.

Desirable qualifications: The following are additional nice to have qualifications of the imam:

1.    Training in conflict prevention and resolution.

2.    Capacity to represent the Muslim community and speak to the media

3.    Dynamic personality and motivational speaker.

4.      History of speaking to other faith groups about Islam.
